Water Disinfection


Water Star Inc. has developed a number of technologies that can provide unique opportunities to enhance water quality.  The PeroxyPure products are based on electrolytic production of hydrogen peroxide.  Our Oxygen products dramatically increase the dissolved oxygen content.  We are actively looking for commercial partners to take these technologies to market.

 

Technology is also avialble for genration of hypochlorite and hypochlorus acid with minimum residual salt in the product. 

PEROXYPURE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SYSTEMS
WSI has developed a number of patented applications for PeroxyPure, electrolytic hydrogen peroxide generators that are available for license or joint venture.  This technology uses an electrochemical cell with specialized electrodes to generate hydrogen peroxide from water most often for on-site applications.  The hydrogen peroxide produced is pure with no additives or stabilizers.  Simple versions are available which can generate from 0 to 1000 PPM for biostasis, oxygen generation, disinfection, and oxidizer generation.  Advanced systems are available which are capable of generation of 5%+concentrations of hydrogen peroxide for use as an oxidizer, bleach, or disinfectant. 

 

PeroxyPure utilizes sophisticated fuel cell electrodes that “breathe” oxygen from the air through the cathode which reacts with water to form peroxide.  The reactions are very simple: oxygen reduction at the special cathode and oxygen generation at the anode:

Anode:  2H2O 
  O2  +  4H+  +  4e-
Cathode: 2O2 + 2H2O + 4e-  →  +2OH-+H2O2

The cathode is the culmination of decades of research and allows oxygen (from air) to pass through it but not water.  The electrode consists of three layers:  a microporous plastic layer, a metal mesh current distributor & a carbon cloth that has been impregnated with special carbon.  The anode is a titanium metal structure with a precious metal catalyst applied to the surface.  A schematic of the unique cathode is shown below:

Water Star Inc. has manufactured a wide variety of prototypes for the on-site manufacture of hydrogen peroxide.  These designs can be commercialized for a wide variety of applications.

WATER STAR INC OXYGENATION SYSTEMS
Increasing the level of dissolved oxygen in water can have immensely beneficial effects on water quality.  Water Star utilizes a flow through, separated electrolytic cell to dissolve high purity oxygen into the receiving water.  Hydrogen generated separately at the cathode is vented and is NOT allowed to dissolve in the water ensuring total safety.
